I have finally started registrar training in palliative medicine in earnest last week... it's been three days so far and it's nice. I am now working in St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich, which is a town in the East of England. http://www.stelizabethhospice.org.uk/
After three days, I have realised that working life in the hospice consists of many meetings... each of the meetings don't last very long, but there is a meeting for the community macmillan team, and another for the day centre team, and another to discuss the patients who have been seen in outpatients clinic that week. Then there is a the daily meeting to discuss the referrals to the palliative care team - which ones would be accepted (most of them) and which ones rejected (hardly any), and for inpatient referrals, when the patients would be booked for admission.
It's Monday morning and another new week lies ahead... exciting.
